Please pass our thanks to our doctor and your IVF team. You’ve done a very good job.
If there’s anyone asking us for IVF, for sure we will recommend your IVF team.
Phuc and Vy from Vietnam
Phuc and Vy, living in Vietnam and their first kid is an MPS boy, brought their son to MacKay for regular follow-up and treatment annually. Thus, they came to MacKay for PGD+IVF while decided to have the second child. After the PGD test and IVF procedure, they successfully have another baby, a healthy boy, after their first-time single frozen-thawed embryo transfer.
I remember doctor’s last words to me after he put the embryos inside me, “We have done everything, now everything is in God’s hand.” Somehow it comforted me. For the past 6 years and 5th attempt of IVFs, I lived in fear and heart aches of failures but doctor reminded me again that despite science there is God who can do all miracles impossible, despite fear there is hope if you have faith.
Because of my age of 43, I just have 5 to 10% of chance of getting pregnant. I am so happy we didn’t give up, my husband did not give up on me because finally we are pregnant!
Failed to have a twin but still grateful for what we believe is God’s greatest gift to us.
Thank you MacKay, thank you my doctor, thank you my loving husband, dad and thank you God!
Thank you again to the MacKay team for helping us now have 2 beautiful boys. God bless you!

“Truly, the happiest day of our life”
Thank you the team at MacKay Memorial Hospital!

Our gratitude and love to Dr. Lee, to IMSC, Ms. Lisa and to everybody at the IVF lab and clinic. Thank you very much!

In 2016, we chose to proceed with the IVF at MacKay Memorial Hospital because we want a stress free environment and a team who we know are the best in this field. Thank you all for making our dream come true.
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
My husband and I already have a 2 year old son and when we were trying to have another baby, we were always unsuccessful. We tried for more than a year and when our friend told us about ivf in Taiwan, we were interested and asked about it from friends and since we heard so many successful cases, we booked a flight to Taiwan last Feb for the initial consultation. For the actual process, we travelled to Taiwan on April.
The experience was good. Dr. Lee and Ms. Sun already have a good system in place. Check up, explanation, procedure, etc. And so on my part, I never had any fear with the entire procedure. There were also some painful moments but everything is tolerable.
We came home around 1st week of May and found out I was already pregnant around May 10th. Confirmed heartbeat of twins by 10 weeks but lost one on 12th week. After that, we sought the help of a perinatogist (high risk ob), immunologist and endoc doctor. They all helped for me to have a healthy and safe pregnancy.
I have been recommending the Taiwan ivf team to couples who have difficulty on conceiving. They are very helpful, efficient, and the chances of success is very high. Like in my case, we were successful in one try only.
My husband and I have been married for about 3 years when we decided to undergo IVF treatment. We came to this decision not because we have experienced many failed work-ups but because we want to undergo a treatment with the highest success rate.
We learned about Dr. Robert Lee and MacKay Memorial Hospital from my relatives who have been successful with their IVF treatments. With their positive recommendations, we didn’t think twice about going to the same doctor and hospital.
Seeing as it was my first IVF treatment, I was scared of the whole procedure and worried about the medications I had to take. I was also worried of language and cultural barriers. However, Dr. Lee and the whole staff at MacKay really eased my worries by being very professional.
I also found it easy to communicate with Dr. Lee and the whole staff at MacKay because they can speak fluent English. Although the hospital is always full of people, everyone was so efficient that we didn’t have to wait long for injections, check-ups, ultrasounds, etc. This efficiency displayed by the staff at MacKay I think, makes the biggest difference compared to hospitals or clinics in the Philippines.
The accommodation extended by the staff of MacKay was not just limited to the IVF treatment. They also happily answered all my queries such as other things to do in Taipei and good restaurants to eat at. I truly felt comfortable with this supposedly uncomfortable procedure because of the general warmth, compassion, and helpfulness of everyone at MacKay. All these definitely made my 1st IVF experience less stressful which I think contributed a lot in helping me achieve a positive result.
I am a proud mother to 3 IVF babies. My eldest was made in the Philippines while my twins were made in Taiwan. I am equally grateful to both doctors and institutions for making it possible for us to become parents.
My first pregnancy came 8 years after marriage and after countless pregnancy work-ups. My daughter who is now 8 years old was conceived thru the help of Dr. Irene Sy of Center for Reproductive Medicine in Manila. It was a fresh IVF cycle and our first attempt. Following this, I have had 2 failed frozen embryo transfers. Since we already have a child, we were torn between being contented with one child and giving our child a sibling companion. Obviously, it was the benefit of our daughter that pushed us to try IVF in Taiwan.
My cousin, who underwent a successful IVF procedure in Taiwan, recommended to us Mackay Memorial Hospital.
Mackay Memorial Hospital has an International Medical Service Center that caters to international patients. This makes it easy for foreigners who cannot speak Chinese to communicate with them, as they are fluent in English. With the help of electronic mails, all inquiry can also be addressed.
After 6 years of trying, we were again new parents to twins, a boy and a girl. Twice the blessings, twice the fun! Two miracles instead of one!
Our twins are now at their terrible twos. It is such a joy seeing two little kids greet you as you come home from work but it is also a challenge to us in so many aspects. Good luck to us!
After 8 years of waiting and countless fertility treatments, God has finally answered our prayers with a healthy baby girl last June 13, 2013. She was a living proof that miracles do happen.
We would like to thank Dr. Robert Lee Kuo-Kuang of MacKay Memorial Hospital for the successful IVF. Out of 7 eggs retrieved, only 4 were fertilized. Of the 4 embryos, there were 2 grade 5, 1 grade 4 and 1 grade 3 embryos. Not the best odds. The day of the transfer, I was crying already. I can clearly recall Dr. Lee telling me, “You only need 1 good embryo and you have one, so don’t worry.” I held on to these words all throughout the waiting period. It served as my strength and hope. True enough, I only need one and she is here with me now, my bundle of joy.
Thank you Dr. Lee, and to all the nurses and staff of MacKay Memorial Hospital for being an instrument in the conception of this little miracle. This wouldn’t be possible without you. Thank you very very very much.

This is the most frequently asked question in my blog and emails – Why did you have IVF? Why in Taiwan and why in MacKay Memorial Hospital? Here’s my answer.
These are some of the reasons why I chose to have IVF in MacKay Memorial Hospital in Taipei:
- Proximity wise, Taiwan is nearer to the Philippines.
- It was way cheaper to have IVF done in Taiwan compared to the Philippines, Singapore or US in terms of medical expenses, food and accommodation.
- Taiwan has a higher success rate in terms of their IVF.
- I have personally spoken to quite a number of people who were successful with their IVF with Dr. Robert Lee as their ob-gyne.
- I find Dr. Robert Lee very professional. He knows what he is doing and I feel comfortable with him.
- The system in the hospital is very organized.
- They have an International Medical Service team that will assist you with all the things that you need. They are prompt in answering all your queries through email and they are also the ones who will help you arrange your accommodation there.
- Love the food in Taipei… and shopping as well!!
- I also felt that a change of environment would be healthy for us as we were able to escape the stress we have here in the Philippines. We were able to rest and unwind. It was like our second honeymoon and the IVF was like our side trip instead of the other way around. We enjoyed the trip very much and the baby is our bonus 🙂
It was recommended to me by my OB then after 3 consecutive failed IUI from her, though prior to this we have also tried IUI 2x with another OB.
Given our case, the success rate was 50% according to our ob in Taiwan. That’s a 50-50 chance for us and since we have tried everything already, ivf was our last resort.
Plus the fact that my biological clock was ticking and was not getting any younger, I was determined to give ivf a try even just once only. I wouldn’t want to wake up one day and regret the fact that I did not do something when I could have done something.
To quote from Mark Twain: “Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
IVF was indeed worth a try… especially with our dream of having a baby as the prize.

Year 2007, the day we promised forever.
After years of trying and waiting with all our heart and with all our faith and trust to God. Mackay Taipei here we come!
It was seven o’clock in the morning. We had our first pregnancy test. For the first time it has TWO RED LINES! Thank you lord!
36 weeks, Friday, 30th of March 2012. The day we held our precious twins for the first time. At 9:44 AM Harry Adrian was born after 2 minutes at 9:46AM Philippa Viviene was born. Praise God! Twins, two little blessings sent from above. Every perfect gift is from above. James 1:17
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
